As a follower of Christ, Reformed theologian, and University President, I find immense joy in encouraging faculty and students to think truthfully, act justly, and live faithfully for the good of the world and the glory of God.
Christian scholars and students alike are called to seek understanding and meaning in light of the confession that Jesus is “before all things, and in him, all things hold together” (Col 1:17). When we locate faith and learning within the drama of God’s creative and redemptive work, learners are set free to engage in the extraordinary discovery of truth wherever it may be found. Rather than diminishing deep and thoughtful consideration of the world, the Christian story animates a vital commitment to rigorous intellectual work. Likewise, human dignity, flourishing, and learning arises from the confession “all things have been created through him and for him” (Col 1:16)..
